Topics to be covered:

·        Social Justice with politically diverse communities and congregations

·        Tools and best practices for advocacy

·        How State and Federal Budgets will affect members of congregations and communities

·        Theological reflections

·        Challenges addressing homelessness and housing needs in the community

·        Fostering dialogue between faith communities, congregations, government officials, unions and secular advocacy groups.

Schedule:

1:00 pm-1:30 pm:          Gathering, Opening Prayer and Lunch 

1:30 pm -3:00 pm:         Worship, Pastoral and Theological Approaches to Doing Social Justice with Politically Diverse

                                             Congregations and Communities.

3:00 pm-4:30 pm:          Overview of State & Federal budgets and policy priorities and protecting the social safety net

4:30pm - 6:00 pm:         Local and Statewide initiatives on Homelessness and Housing.

Worship: Led by The Reverend Peter Cook, Executive Director, New York State Council of Churches

Andrew Hevesi, Assemblyman 28th District, Charles Khan, Strong Economy for All, Tony Lasicki, New York State Association for Community Living, and Clergy, Local Government Officials and Housing Advocates
